I just got this e-mail from arxiv.

Our moderators have determined that we will not accept further submissions from the ISIC Challenge this year. All pending submissions have been rejected from arXiv. Please contact your organizers for more information.

What can I do?

I submitted yesterday as well, but received word that it will be published on 12:00 July the 25th, but it was not published and the status changed to “on hold”

We are in contact with arXiv. After many submissions of low quality and without sufficient scientific content arXiv moderators stopped accepting any ISIC 2018 related submissions. Thus new submissions there don’t make sense for now.

We are working on a solution for the challenge where participants don’t need to submit to arXiv directly and will keep you updated here.

Dear participants,

I can’t provide complete details, but want to give a short update on the status:

  • arXiv will currently not allow further submissions for the ISIC 2018 challenge, therefore please don’t submit there any further.
  • We will still ask for the (minimum) 4-page manuscripts providing sufficient detail (so that an individual with reasonable skill could re-create the work in a reasonable timeframe), so please have those prepared for any test-set submissions you plan to make. Be aware that your listing on the leaderboard depends on approval of adequate content in the manuscript by the ISIC 2018 organizing team.
  • Instead of submitting the manuscripts to arXiv, we are now setting up a system that you will provide those manuscripts to us directly.
  • We try to do everything as quick as possible, in case we cannot provide the infrastructure or manuscript review in time we may need to extend the leaderbord publication deadline, although we currently don’t plan to. We also currently do not plan to extend the test-set submission deadline.

Can we submit our test-set result without arxiv now?Or wait for you to make a new submission system？

You can submit your test-set results now and your manuscript later.

Currently, we can not upload our test results, cause the submission form is asking for arXiv link which we do not have it. Shall we submit the test-set results without giving any link to manuscript?

We will provide an update with more details soon, hopefully later today - in brief: we will ask for submitting the manuscript PDF with your predictions on the challenge site.

Please do not submit solely challenge-related manuscripts to arXiv as they will reject those.

For me it was possible yesterday to submit my final predictions without given the link to an arXiv link…

What about those who have already made the submissions and whose abstracts have already been accepted by arxiv? Do we have to make the submissions all over again?

Hi @joshuapeterebenezer,

As mentioned in this post:

If it is convenient for you to re-submit a new ZIP file containing both your results and PDF manuscript, we’d request that you do so.

However, if you have already:

  1. Had arXiv accept and publish your manuscript; and
  2. Included this arXiv URL in your previous submission

we will also be able to manually pull in your PDF from arXiv, so you are not strictly required to re-submit.

arXiv has already accepted and published the manuscript and I have included the URL in the earlier submission. It would be great if you could use that. I hope this doesn’t affect the evaluation of the earlier submission. Thanks.
